Possible to add/delete music and video with WinSCP?

I have all the WinSCP goodies installed on my iPhone and I can get into the directories and everything. My question - is it possible for me to add and delete music and videos through WinSCP directories? Or do I absolutely need to use iTunes? I searched in just about every directory within the WinSCP window and I can't find the music/videos that I have uploaded.

I'm not aware of a way to put files in the iPhone's iPod using anything except iTunes. That would rock if anybody knows a way to do that. There's an iPod database that iTunes updates so it's not as simple as just putting files in a directory.

I also wanted to be able to put files on my iPhone using WinSCP and play them on the iPhone outside of the iPod. This has the advantage of having video and audio on the iPhone which can't be accidentally stumbled on by my kids if they pick up my iPhone. :)

I just recently figured out how to do this: search for and install MobileFinder and AVPlayer from Cydia. MobileFinder allows you to browse the filesystem locally so you can navigate to whatever location you stashed your videos in from WinSCP, then just double tap the file and choose Open With and select AVPlayer and voilà! Your porn starts playing. Or whatever.

I had the same problem. It took me a while to figure it out. Try going to /VAR/Mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/Music. It should be there. I have a jailbroken iPhone 2G with 2.2 firmware.

If yours is jailbroken and you have a Mac/iMac you don't need WINSCP. You can install a program called Netatalk on the iPhone (you also need Open SSH then restart the iPhone). The iPhone appears in the Finder and you have access as you do with WINSCP on a PC. You can read the instructions in this link (it's simple and took me about 10 minutes to get working)---> http://www.simonblog.com/2008/09/07...files-between-iphone-and-your-mac-wirelessly/
