Hi all. Is there any way to keep the iPad2 from powering back on when I plug power into it?

Interesting question. My initial thought is no as I have never had an iDevice, including the iPad 2 off while plugged into power.

For what reason do you need this? You can certainly turn the screen off while it is charging, but having the deivce physically shutdown while plugged in seems counter productive.

I needed to know the same thing yesterday as I was on limtied time near a pwer supply and presumed having it actually Off instead of airplane mode with screen off would charge quicker.

Seems there isn't a way.

The iPhone also powers on when connected to a power source. I believe it's just the way it is supposed to work.

YMMV

Apparently no one here has jail broken with Redsn0w! You must plug your device in and then turn it off. Works for me.

? We aren't talking about jailbreaking; we're discussing charging.

Brian, just power it off after you begin charging and it powers on. It will still charge.

We aren't talking about DFU mode, either. Just charging.

OK now I feel like im in the twilight zone. I thought he wants to know if it charges while completely physically powered off. Why even power is off after it begins charging if its just gonna power on. LOL - just plug it in, wait a bit - voila!

OK - I just tried it on my iPad 2, just for the sake of putting it to rest. If you turn it off, and plug it in, it will automatically turn back on.

If you plug it in, and turn it off after, it will remain off (apparently still charging as per Napolean - I cannot test this as mine is at 100% right now).

If you plug it in while its turning off, it will remain off - again still charging.

Now that we have thoroughly answered this question, whose up for a beer ;)

It doesn't matter why he likes to keep it powered off while it's charging. The point is that it will still charge while it's off. I just tested it and it works.
