Proper Battery Care?

I've read the iPhone battery will take 300-400 recharges before significant reduction. My question is: what is the definition of a "recharge"?

When I'm in the office I keep the iPhone in the cradle always charging so normally when I leave the office I always have a full charge. But, I take it in and out of the cradle all day long. Every time I take it out of the cradle and put it back in does that count as a recharge? I also have a car charger so when I'm in my car I'm charging as well. Is this method using up my 400 recharges?

Using 100% battery power and recharging the battery 100% = 1 charge cycle.

So if you use 20% battery power a day, it would take you 5 days to complete 1 charge cycle.

So technically.. It doesn't matter how many times you stick it in the charger?

Say I used only 50% one day and stick it in the charger. That counts as half a charge right?

Yes, that is correct.

Just use it until you know it needs to be charged for the next day. If it's less than half full, you'll probably want to charge it.
