I recently didn't get a call on my iPhone 5s (running on ios 7). There was no missed call, etc. I know this may just be a hiccup of the Verizon network, but I was just curious, hypothetically, what would happen if the phone call came in just as I was closing the phone app. (By closing I mean shutting down the app by doubeclicking the circular button and then swiping the app up). Would the call still come through?

    Thanks!

I'm curious, how were aware that the call came in while you were shutting down? If your carrier's records alerted you, does that not answer your question regarding what would happen? Otherwise, I'd guess it would show in resent calls as dismissed.
    Just saying...

I've received a voicemail but no missed calls. Companies do this by bypassing the call and it goes straight to voicemail. Why do they do that? Beats me.
