Sorry I have searched for what I need and only get pieces of individual items not a process.

I have a ATT phone at Apptap Installer version 3.0b8. I want to upgrade to vs 1.1.1 and have access to my 3rd party apps.

Now I have uninstalled all my previously installed apps but I cannot uninstall installer itself.

I would rather not restore and automatically update to 1.1.2 then downgrade.

What am I ok doing? Can I manually upgrade to 1.1.1 directly or do I need to remove app tapp installer first. whats my best course of action with the least amount of risk? Thanks,

You don't have to worry about uninstalling Installer.

Just download 1.1.1 from here:
iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore.ipsw

Then shift-click (or option-click on a Mac) the Check for Update button in iTunes, find iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore.ipsw and select it as the update file.

After updating to 1.1.1 just visit jailbreakme.com on the iPhone and, presto, you'll have 1.1.1 jailbroken.

If you want to go to 1.1.2 you'll need to install OKtoPrep, update to 1.1.2, then use the latest 1.1.2-jailbreak.zip to jailbreak it.

Yes, but I suggest trying out 1.1.1 first. Once you go to 1.1.2 you can't go back to 1.1.1 (or 1.0.2) without restoring the baseband, which is a bit more difficult than just jailbreaking.

Which file in 1.1.1 do I select, after downloading it I get 3 dmg files, and 1 folder a folder labeled firmware, and a kernelcache file.

thanks

Hmmm its not working, I keep getting an "unspecified error 1403" message. I think its worthless to try I will just restore to factory and upgrade to 1.1.2.

That link was to a single .ipsf file, and it is that one file that must be selected. Not sure if you extracted it but you shouldn't need to.

If you go straight to 1.1.2 you won't be a me to jailbreak, without downgrading back to 1.1.1.
