    Hello all,
Im sure this is a very stupid question but I want to be sure before I mess anything up... I have a 3GS running 4.0.1 and modem firmware 5.13.04 and the old bootrom.
I want to upgrade to iOS5 and unlock it. I understand that I can jailbreak using RedSnow and then unlock using UltraSnow.

1> Will this method mess up my baseband?
2> Will I be able to successfuly do an unthethered jailbreak with the latest RedSnow?
3> Will I be able to follow that with a successful unlock using the latest UltraSnow?

Please help me out. I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you.

Hello ...well technically you can upgrade to 5.0. It must be custom firmware to preserve your baseband. I used sn0wbreeze and then ultrasn0w. I have a 3GS, 5.13.04 old bootrom too.

The problem is that Apple stopped signing 5.0 so you can't upgrade to 5.0.

Do not go to 5.0.1 that is unlockable.
