Who remembers iDay of last year when EVERY iPhoner in America was trying to activate their phone's at the same time? I hope that isn't the issue on the 17th when we start downloading 3.0. Wish they could organize it some how by time zone or something.

I'm sure AT&T will be more prepared just like they are with mms!

I didn't stand in line; I waited a week and ordered mine from the AT&T store via direct fulfillment. I think the MobileMe/iPhone 3G/OS upgrade was foolish. I think at least staggering out the 3.0 release two days before the phone is released is smart. Those who are dying to get the 3.0 update will get it on Wednesday. That will prevent the iPhone 3G S users from bothering with it. Then Friday they'll get smashed again from new users. Smarter than last year.

I was 4th in line last year! I'm going to wait until the 2nd or 3rd day this year. Do you guys think they will sell out (at the Apple stores)?

I live in a small town and I was #3 in line at the AT&T store. I was 1st to get my activated. The the AT&T started preaching to me about going home and syncing it with my pc to get my contacts and blah blah blah! Little did she know, I had mobileme and she was amazed when I showed her I had got my contacts during her little 3 minute sync sermon.

The 2 day difference should be enough to keep the traffic flowing on the servers.

Well, I'll be standing outside the Apple store in the Annapolis Mall on Friday, waiting in the "reserved" line with my niece and her boyfriend. He's getting his first iPhone, and I've designated my niece as lunch runner if needed. :)

And if anyone needs this information, anyone who has to pay a deposit to AT&T when buying their iPhone can pay the whole shebang at the Apple store with a credit/debit card

I remember hanging out here on the forums last year as folks trickled in with their shiny new 3G's. I felt like a poor kid pressing his nose up against the glass of a candy store. I'm very happy I get to eat some this year. :)
