Did your restore the firmware or just restore your backup? If you selected the restore button and restored the firmware or pressed the update button, Cydia and the jailbreak would be gone.

Are you getting an error code in iTunes or is it just saying SIM card not recognized? Which error code?

Try removing SIM and putting it back in the phone.

tried it, won't work.
I've tried everything and so has the Apple people. I've tried DFU mode, restore, using a different computer.

It sounds like your SIM card is bad. Do you have an AT&T Store near you? Before doing that, I would call AT&T and see if they can activate it. They do this 24/7. Do you need the number?

I have tried putting in my brothers sim card. iTunes isn't recognizing it. which makes me think its an iPhone problem,

The same thing has happened to you with three iPhones now. That's too many to be a coincidence. I wonder if it has something to do with your computer. Have you tried restoring it on another computer?

They are pretty fast. If you mail it tomorrow, you'll probably have a new one by Monday. I'd call them tonight. They might even ship the new one tomorrow.

Do you have access to another computer so you can try restoring it on an alternate computer first?

wow :O they would send it to me before i sent my broken iPhone?
they aren't open :( i missed them by 30 minutes... ugggghhhhh
im so frustrated.. this is the 3rd time and its not because I'm jailbroken because it happened once when i wasn't jailbroken.
do you think it would be fair of me to ask for some kind of compensation for my problems? like the new iPhone 5 [eventually hahaha ;) jk..mostly

No, I don't think they'll compensate you, unfortunately. Ask them if you can take the sim card out before you ship it. Then you could get a disposable phone at Walmart to use in the meantime. I think you can get one for as little as $20. Or maybe you know someone with a spare AT&T phone they can lend you. This is one of the reasons I keep a spare iPhone on hand.

Have you tried your sim card in your brother's phone?

No, you just need a sim adapter. You can make one or I have a spare that I'd be happy to ship you (no charge), but that will take a couple days to get there.

Does your brother have a computer that you can try to restore it on? I'm wondering if it's your computer. We ruled out your SIM card being the culprit and this has happened on 3 iPhones now.

Another thing you could try tonight is completely uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. I'd try using your brother's computer first. That will show you if it's your computer or not.
