    Howdy all

Well, have received Apple tv 2 for Christmas, trying to get me head around it!

All connected up last night, tried to rent a film, then got a streaming time of 13hours and this varied and went up to 21 days at one point

Gave it another go today and am getting the same, hovering around 8 hours now, film has been paid for but cant seem to watch it

Any one any ideas or solutions?

Are you streaming over wifi or Ethenet? Do you have a decent Internet connection?

Yes fairly good, don't know exact speed but always been fast, saying that, I am also running iPad and iPhone off it? I could easily connect it via Ethernet, will try now

I'm also having trouble with home sharing, I don't know if it's possible but I've turned on home sharing on iTunes on my work comp that's 5 mins down the road but it isn't appearing in the computers menu on ATV?

You have to be on the same network for Home Sharing to work. You can get Home Sharing to work over VPN but it's complicated and lengthy.

Try using Ethernet, you'll get a much better connection.

You gotta do a speed test of your home Internet connection and let us know what it is. That will help us help you.

I'm seeing a ping of 1325ms, download is 0.40mbps and upload is 0.08mbps

    Good or bad?

Make sure you run the speed tests from a desktop browser rather than a portable device.

Ok so since that phone call this morning, I'm now pushing out 5mbps, the film is now ready to watch! Ha, it must have been a problem at there end as I didn't do anything

Cheers for the help lads, loving the sync of iPad to ATV by the way

I had this problem, was running at about 4mbps, upgraded to fibre optic now running at about 35mbps having no problems streaming now. You need to call your provider.

You could have the fastest connection in the world, yet still have a crap stream. It's down to the router if you ask me. If you're having problems streaming wirelessly, try plugging in an Ethernet cable.

I too had issues with BAD LOW streaming issues but with NetFlix.

I have Time Warner Cable with Turbo RoadRunner and ATV 2.

NetFlix FLATE REFUSED to acknowledge they have streaming issues and tried to pass it off on my ISP... WRONG it is how ATV and the DNS communicates so here is the fix for it:

    Settings
    Network
    TCP/IP
    DNS
Change DNS to point to Goggle DNS .8.8.8.8
Reboot ATV and your streaming issues are fixed!

If you have a website that YOU pay for you can put your DNS in there as well or check in your router DNS setting, some like D-Like offer FREE DNS streaming accounts. But for the mopst part the Google DNS seems to work GREAT!

    Hope this helped!
