Anyone notice that the switch is lower on 4s. I went to put
my phone in the iPhone 4 Otterbox defender case & the switch did not fit properly in the spot but it fits

The Otterbox Defender is universal between all iPhone 4's and 4S's. The Verizon iPhone's switch is in the same spot. It's supposed to be like that.

The switch is in a much better position than the 4s, as far as it fitting
    in the Otterbox Defender case.

Well, from what the OP said... They are NOT universal. Which I know for a fact that the iPhone 4 case IS different from the 4s.. :D
There was the AT&T and Verizon otterbox. The verizon iPhone4 was different from the AT&T one with the volume buttons and the vibrate switch being moved slightly.
Otterbox did create a 'universal' case though.

Oh, I thought there was only a universal case. My Verizon iPhone 4's vibrate switch sits low in a universal Otterbox, but it is reachable.
