I had a bunch of MP3 ringtones I've downloaded from various places over the years and I couldn't for the life of me find a way to import them into iTunes, UNTIL now.

First load the MP3 files into iTunes(as ordinary MP3s).
Then start Garage Band, New Project. Delete the existing tracks in the window.
Drag the MP3 that you want as a ringtone from iTunes into Garage Band.
Adjust the little yellow slider for the correct length.
In the Menu, click Share, Send Ringtone to iTunes. WALA! It appears under ringtones in iTunes and you can sync it to your iPhone.
Then just go into Settings, Sounds, Ringtones on your iPhone and you will have a Custom Ringtones selection at the top.

I wish I could take credit for this but it took me a couple days to search it out and I found it here: http://lifehacker.com/software/how-...e-ringtones-the-free-and-apple-way-334073.php

Have Fun.

I wish to Apologize for posting this. Had I read through the FAQs, I would have found the link to this issue. I searched everywhere and hadn't thought to search here for it. I was thinking I had found something useful everyone with iMacs could use and here it was the whole time. http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/12066/

There is a lot of information here if you know where to look for it.
