Is it possible? Or can anyone think of any way other than texting it 30 seconds at a time?

I do not believe that there is a way to do such a thing. I don't think Facebook even allows you to save it if you are on a computer. If it were possible to save the video on your computer, you could transfer it to the phone but I don't think it will allow it.

The Downloads App allows you to download videos to your iPhone. While you can't download directly from the Facebook app, you can tap on the video, but instead of playing it, tap on the icon on the bottom right of the screen and "Copy URL". Then you can open the Downloads app, paste the URL and download. Does not work for videos that require flash player.

It is also possible to download videos from Facebook in Mobile Safari. To do this you must be jailbroken and have Safari Download Manger and/or YourTube installed.

Just curious, what do you mean by "texting it 30 seconds at a time?"

Sorry, I should have explained better. My friend took a video on his iPhone and I want to be able to have it on my iPhone to post here (my flash mob video). He posted it on Facebook, but of course that doesn't help. Short of texting it (which you can only do 30 seconds at a time) or posting it on YouTube (I already had to nag him for a couple weeks just to get it on Facebook), I'm not sure how to make this happen...

Ginny, post his FB page and tell him to expect a butt load of friend requests to see the video.
If it is still on his phone, can you have him email it to you instead of texting it?

Like YouTube, Facebook doesn't support any direct-download button. But some third party software might be able to do something about it. It could even add built-in download button to the video streaming. You can download any online video as long as you paste a URL onto it. Guess you won't want to try them?

There is no existing app to do it but its still quite possible by a custom app.
Basically you will need a app developed which will use Facebook's SDK to get the video data (raw data/http link) and download the video within the app's local filesystem.
Then the app can allow you to play video from its local filesystem (offline) or let you save/export the video to your camera roll

Well ... You can download it from Facebook on your PC by changing the www. Link to m. Which means mobile version and then right click on the video and you will see the save as ... option. Click it and save the video. Don't listen to the other guys above telling you that it can't be saved on your PC. You can also use the jDownloader program by copying the video link and breaking it down to what you wish to download.... In your case video. As for the iPhone the kadelic guy has the right answer since your phone isn't jailbroken. Good luck.

This takes a little more work, but you can install Facebook++ by sideloading it using Cydia Impactor with a free Apple developer account. Works well for me. Saves Facebook videos right to the camera roll.

This thread is from 2011, guess the OP doesn't need the answer anymore but it's really quite simple to do, here's the app

Video Saver Pro - Video Player for Cloud Platform by Nguyen T Nam Giang
https://appsto.re/us/FVQ3-.i

Works beautifully, I spent the 3 bucks for the paid version.

Be sure to download it to your computer as well, apps like these tend to get pulled, I have had 2 other experiences

This app does indeed work. I just tested it downloading a video from Facebook direct to my camera roll. I still have an older app, Video D/L Pro, that still works for internet, YouTube, etc. But it's 32 bit and won't survive iOS 11. Hopefully, Apple won't pull the app.
