I won a first gen Mini a few weeks ago and gave it to my 9 year old. She has it in a case and all but it fell and the case opened mid-flight and her screen is messed up good.

How much should I expect to pay for a fix? Any ideas?

Was it under any type of warranty when you received it?

Apple charges $219 for a first generation iPad mini screen replacement. A local repair shop would likely charge less.

Not sure about warranty. Got it from a VP at work as a gift. Guessing we've had these in a closet for a while.

I would do what Europa mentioned above and go to a local repair shop. Usually there are a few places available to help you with things like this and they try their best to be cheaper than Apple which makes sense for them to do.
