So I maybe dropped my phone from 2.5-3 ft yesterday and the screen has cracked but its still working. I was wondering if anyone had this happen and how much did it cost to get fixed?!

It hurts to look at it!

Great info Don...i didn't think it was this easy to take apart the 3G...seems like most repairs can now be DIY...

It was something like $250 on the V1 to have Apple replace the glass.

I just watch the video, and i also watched the video of him taking apart the v1 iPhone.

I have to say... the 3g is ALOT different when looking at the insides and how everything is layed out.

i had this happen to me after a week of having my new phone. took it to the Apple store n they told me i would have to pay $200 for a replacement but they had none left. so i went to another Apple store in san francisco and ended up getting a replacement for free because the guy was really cool... guess i got lucky LOL

I was in the Apple store today getting my 3g replaced (i was surprised to have received a brand new one straight out of the box btw) and a girl came in with a shatter 3g phone. i was listening to how much it was gonna cost ...$250. this prompted me to get insurance from square trade. for $35.99. a small investment which might save me a lot in the long run

I had this happen and it will cost 199/299 just like the discounted price. You'll basically have to just get a new phone. Good news is that Apple stores will have them in stock because they have just replacements sitting in a box (just the phone) OEM style.

Sorry but I was right there with you, at least I'm getting the person who broke it to pay for it.
