I did this on my iPhone 3g 8gb and its taking for ever. It's already been 7 hours. Is this normal?

It should really only take about 2 hours. I did it last night to a 3G and it took right at 2 hours.

It's so much faster and easier to restore it in iTunes.

2 hours? I have an iPhone 3gs 16gb and it took 1:20 mins, and my phone was nearly full!

@kane584

How did it go?

I know someone who did erase all content and settings and it took her more than 8 hours. At first I did not believe her but her brother confirmed it.

I think it's a case to case basis, some iPhone can finish it in less than 2 hours and others don't. It also depends on the contents that you have on your iPhone.

Anyway, just keep us posted.
