I searched the forum, so I thought I would ask. One of my favorite features on an older phone was a silent ringtone. I could put "certain" people that I would prefer not to talk to at the moment on silent ringtone, and still get a ring from everyone else. Is this feature available and I just can't find it?

I believe that feature is not available. You can only switch between "on" and "off" sounds.

Silence at last...

For $2 you can have this feature..

Essentially, buy the ringtone from iTunes Store. Artist is 'Guster', song is 'Silence'.
Works great for me!

If you can use it, I have zipped and attached a silent mp3 file.

Gotta start by staying I'm a recovering blackberry user who now has an iPhone and will never look back.

Having said that, some stuff is strange with the iPhone. Why is there no silent ringer function to assign to specific entries and or to set for the phone?

Can anyone help?

Silly really though that we have to jump through these hoops just to turn the ringer off. I'm not really into downloading stuff and then doing a sync etc. Anoying!

Having said that, thx very much for he help. Ill get my wife to get it on my phone.

I've never ever needed that. If you think that is weird, you got another thing coming; but enjoy your BB to iPhone conversion. You will be jumping though some more hoops to get what you need accomplished.

A basic that I miss is speed dial and having the email read status in sync. Though I am very unimpressed with my torch and would not recommend it over any other phone.

Yah. Although the iPhone is gunna take some getting accustomed to I had my fill with Bb. I was constantly taking the battery out for a "restart", brutal.

My wife just got the torch (she had to for work) and I used it for a bit. Brruuuuuuuyal! Lol

I'm happily converted.

I went on iTunes and searched Silent. There is a 10 second ringtone for $1.29. Worth it for no hassle.

I commented because I was looking for the same thing. The reason for this is to help other people out not to make ignorant comments.

So how is that different to just putting the phone onto silent?
