I just purchased an iPhone from a friend. It had an AT*T SIM inside of it, with no service. I opened the SIM tray and put my own AT*T SIM inside of it, which is part of a family plan and has unlimited data transfer.

Should I have any problems, or lose out on any services because of this? Or should I call AT*T and have them apply MY current number to the supplied SIM that was already in the phone, which was used for activation. Or will that now make any difference?

This is all confusing to me. Any tips would be nice.

Thanks!

YOu can't just use your old SIM card in your new iPhone. You have to go through the activation process and add the iPhone plan to your account before it'll work correctly.

IIRC you can't put an iPhone SIM card in another other phone, but you can't put a non-iphone SIM in an iPhone. So I think you have to call and talk to AT&T.
