Perhaps there has already been a discussion on this forum about this topic. But, I thought it would be interesting to start a thread to provide the link and share others' experiences with testing the speed of their iPhone connection both with WiFi and EDGE.

Here is the link:

http://i.dslr.net/tinyspeedtest.html

Speeds I got:

WiFi
Pass 1- 3232kbps
Pass 2- 3489kbps
Pass 3- 3279kbps

EDGE
Pass 1- 89kbps
Pass 2- 121kbps
Pass 3- 56kbps

I'm curious how these speeds compare to others running this test.

Edge I got 131kbps

What would determine the WiFi speed? I got about 1900 but then I have a fairly slow Linksys wireless router here (1x)

yes don't worry about the wifi speed tests. somewhat just tests your wireless network wherever your testing from, slightly tests the iPhones ability to use the network but mostly the dsl/cable speeds and the router

Nice Edge speeds nontheless

I can't get this to work. The page loads, the 2 buttons "mobile" and "high speed" are there, but nothing happens when using either of them.

Works on the computer, go figure. How does this work?

It gives me an Edge(mobile) of 262/362
and high speed 6589/7629.

But then, it's my computer and it's not on Edge (?). I'm confused, which is fairly typical. The iPhone is still showing me question marks.

Addendum: I found this other site: AND IT WORKS...

And this other site too....

None of them are as optimistic about my iPhone speed.

wifi really is faster

I knew my wifi experience was faster, but these numbers really show it

Wifi
#1 4279
#2 4535
#3 5080

Edge
#1 24
#2 34
(didn't do a third time... Too slow)

If I didn't have wifi at home, with my poor att coverage, I would be very frustrated.
