splash top remote to a Linux computer

    has anyone been able to use splash top with the Linux computer? I want to be able to watch videos from my computer on my iPad but cannot find one that will work with linux any suggestions. thanks in advance

    I think it's best that you look into media server applications for Linux... VNC is not the best way to go about with what you are trying to achieve, watching a video will will have a considerable lag as the refresh rate of VNC won't be quick enough.

    I've never tried Plex, but it looks promising. You will have to install the Plex server in you Linux machine the the Plex client on your iOS device.

    I just want to add, that if you just want to be able to remotely connect to your Linux machine any VNC server will suffice, as I've said, watching videos wouldn't be ideal.

    So, you install a VNC server to Linux machine then you install a VNC client on your device and set it up.

    Splashtop doesn't work for Linux as far as I'm aware, unless it's been ported recently.


    Check their site, it's only available for Mac and Win.

    You would be better going down the Server route, it's so much easier. You do have to mess around with router settings but it's easy to do over FTP. If you get stuck, simply reply here and one of us will walk you through it.

    I have been trying to figure out how to send a message to another linux computer at school for a while now by using the linux version of command prompt.

    Cant you just install VNC to your iPad?
