Never had this fast a connection before.

Using PDANet on a 3GS.

Anybody know of a 720p video program yet for the 3GS?

i get 2.2 mbps quite often here in Dallas. Hopefully AT&T ups those network speeds and we can take advantage of the 7.2mbps that the 3GS is capable of.

I hate to say it, but with current 3G giving people about 750kbps-1.5mbps on average, I'm guessing the 7.2 upgrade will yield real-world results about 1.5-3mbps... in which case, you guys may already be experiencing the update.

I rarely have gotten more than 600kbps, so I was very surprised. It also seems faster in Memphis and a small town Oxford. Web browsing on the phone seems just as fast as when I'm on wireless, and using the phone as a modem is only slightly slower than when on wifi at home. Maybe more upgrades are rolling out. It was so fast in the airport that I was surprised enough to bother testing it. I think the latency was much lower, too. This is the first time I've used the 3GS as a modem since I got it.

the 3G network upgrades aren't supposed to be noticed until late 09 to early 2010 from what I understand.

Yeah, my guess is those of us getting 2 mbits are probably on towers that aren't serving very many people. Greenwood probably doesn't have a whole lot of iPhones, and the tower at Houston airport could very well be serving the airport area exclusively.

Update, so I am in a small hotel in a small Mississippi town an hour south of Mempis. The wifi connection is week so I plugged into my phone, since it seemed faster before. I'm getting 2.86mbps using the phone as a modem. OK, now to download some blueray rips...

That's down, the upload is miserable, but I'm not running a webserver, just posting crap like this.

Here in Downtown Toronto Canada I'm getting 2.5Mb/s download and 157kbps up on 3G with Rogers.
