I am floored with the speed of this new iPhone. I don't think it can be stressed enough. It's hands-down the best new feature. You feel it absolutely everywhere... it's an "instant phone" again!

I've cloced wifi at 10k max, ~6500 average. 3G in my area is around 1200, but feels like wifi due to the new rendering speed.

Music apps that used to take about 15 seconds to load before are nearly instant now. Panorama is actually a joy to use! The list goes on and on...

So what do you think? Are you as impressed as I am?

The S stands for 'Sport'

They've uprated the engine and put some better brakes and suspension on too.

No 'gay' spoilers though....

Ya, S is definitely the big selling point with me.

It's smooooooooooooth, too. No jittery app closes or screen transitions.

Everything is faster.... apps, internet, email.... the list goes on and on. I am really impressed with the video. I just did a quick one outside and it is great. Of course it is broad daylight but still impressive none the less. When I signed on the mobileme on my phone, my contacts, calendars etc were there almost immediately. On the 3G, it would take about 3-4 minutes before everything was finished loading up. I don't know what they did to boost that, but wow! After selling my other two iPhones on eBay and then buying this 32 and 16, I still have enough leftover to get a nice steak dinner for lunch!

It was worth the extra moneys. The speed and new camera are awesome. Think my compass is a bit dodgy though.

Edit: voice control works better than all my previous phones too.

So is the "S" worth the $399 it'll cost me to get one? That's what I want to know :)

Are you coming from a first gen iPhone ?

I am ,the speed is just unreal for me. Not having to wait 45 seconds for this site to load and not smoking a cigarette waiting for the camera to open up is pretty kick ass !

Ok , time to go shoot some video.

If you can afford it I guess. The lag on the 3g bugged me a lot. Depends if your impatient like me :)

I wonder if the updated processor and ram will fix the web crashes?

Crashes on the iPhone are almost always low-memory-related. I suspect we'll see much less of that.

I've been browsing for about 2 hours today and no crashes so far. I never had many crashes on my 3g though.

Just clocked one app, SmackTalk, for load time.

3G: 8 seconds
3Gs: Just under 2.

Everything feels much snappier in the stock apps, I'm restoring now and will comment on others later.

From anecdotal evidence on IRC: Safari on wifi now loads pages faster than a G5 iMac. :D

Keep the snippet reviews coming! I'll have to cool my heels for the FedEx truck but I share your excitement. For me, "S" is for "Stoked"!:laugh2:

Sync speed is definitely increased. Fury in IRC calculated about 500MB/minute now. Greatly appreciated with 32GB to fill!
