To passcode or not, that's the question...

Whether you're a heavy iPhone user or not, do you have a passcode on your iPhone?

Sometimes I feel that I'm using it so much, I spend more time entering a passcode to get into it...

What say you?

I've set a passcode but I haven't enabled the nuclear option yet. I am going on vacation soon and might decide do it for the trip.

YMMV

I use always use a passcode. I have Mobile Me, so I can send a message to it that the finder would see and hear even if it's locked and muted.

No passcode here. Never saw a need for it. No one at home but me and if I am out and about the phone is on my hip or in pocket.

Got jokes huh? lol. That just means I don't leave it laying around when I am not using it.

Well, sh1t happens, no matter how careful you think you are.

So I do use a passcode lock, triggered in 5 minutes. I'm so used to it it's not really an issue. I think I could enter the code in my sleep.

But I guess it depends what you have on it too. If you only have a few contacts stored, and no businesss info, it probably wouldn't matter too much.

Well, what generated this question was I was watching a Larry Greenberg review\video today, and noticed that he didn't have a password/passcode set.

I know he probably doesn't have one, since he'd have to cover his screen for each video he started, etc, etc...

But then it dawned on my how often I pick up my iPhone to use it, and thus have to enter the code. Sometimes I pick it up, use it, and within 1-2 minutes I've got it in my hand using it again...

Thus my initial question...

Consider changing the auto lock timer so it won't lock immediately?

yes that's why I went with 5 minutes. Enough time so I am not annoyed by it if I pick the iPhone up again after recently using it. But short enough that it will hopefully kick in before someone finds it (or, perish the thought, steals it).

The default duration is immediately.
Go to settings > General > Passcode lock > Require passcode > and change the duration. They range from immediately to 4 hours.

...thus still have a passcode, per se', but the device will not autolock till after X minutes. Right?

Consider changing the auto lock timer so it won't lock immediately?

Right. It's not quite as secure, but better than nothing.
