Ok, so i'm planning on purchasing an iPhone 3Gs next week, and I'm wondering what the total cost would be on the first day total at the AT&T store.

So, a 16GB $199 iPhone, with the activation fee and all of that. I'm eligible for an upgrade with Att, and in my head right now, i'm thinking i'm going to spend more than just $218 to get an iPhone 3Gs in my hands.

So anyone who bought a 3gs at the store, how much did you pay straight up?

i think you, like me, should wait for the 4th generation iPhone, that is coming very soon, at least thats what im doing, i don't not see to many improvements on the 3gs to buy it, although it is pretty good, but there just not enough, i think you should wait a bit, and when you go to the ATT store, you will pay around 220 dollars if you buy the 199.00 iPhone, it should be somewhat like that, with the fees and taxes and all that

It's all gonna depend on what extras you want. I just got my first iPhone two days ago. cost me 299 plus state sales tax of 6% when I had to order it on saturday. so when i picked it up i spent another 74 dollars. that was for a case, screen protector and car charger.

But so far...loving my new iPhone.

so total, how much did you spend for your iPhone that day? and how many gb?
32 gb cost me 299, case was 29.99, 3 pack of screen protector = 9.99 and car charger was 29.99 so that makes
299 + 29.99 + 9.99 + 29.99 = 368.97.....but don't forget the sales tax.

Hope this helps

how can you be so sure that the 4th generation is coming out soon?

any proof?
The 4th generation is absolutely not coming out soon. Apple has consistently released a new iPhone in June or July every year for the past three summers (June 2007, July 2008, June 2009). There is no reason to think one will be released any sooner than June 2010. Don't listen to him. I speak from experience and the new iPhone is well worth upgrading to.

I already had a plan with AT&T, so there was not activation fee. there is an upgrade fee, and that is 18 dollars, but they will bill you for that, you asked what it cost first day.

Sorry for the confusion

Dude listen to Europa and not the poster who claims a new iPhone is coming and that there's not much difference in the 3GS. the 3GS is way ahead of the 3G! My wife got my hand me down 3G and she can't wait till I upgrade again next summer!

I paid $299 for my white 32GB 3GS and then another $99+ for the package deal thing that included Apple Care, a car charger, and case of my choosing (iFrogz Luxe in pink). That was pretty much it.

Nice deal on the package, the case (same as yours but blue) and car charger cost me 60. but the sales lady was cute :)

Since I really haven't seen an answer to your question, I will give it a shot. The phone will be $199 +tax and then an $18 upgrade cost. That should be it.
An yes, get this phone. It is amazing in all areas and a new one won't be out for almost another year.

While the 3g is running 30mb left of memory sometimes 40 if they are lucky we are getting 150 to 160. that in its self is worth the upgrade to me anyways. and the browsing speed is litterally almost twice as fast. My best friend has a 3g and now that i have the 3gS he wants mine bad and he cant upgrade yet. Huge difference in speed too, don't let the people that are trying to justify their decision to hold out change your mind you will love it.

Don't forget they charge you tax on the UNSUBSIDIZED COST of the phone.
