Mine breaks down as follows:

Rate Plan: $39.99
iPhone Data Plan + 200 Text Messages: $20.00
Prorated Charges For First Few Days: $6.00
Activation Fee: $36.00
Government Fees & Taxes: $4.75
Federal Universal Service Charge: $2.45

Grand Total For First Bill: $109.49
There shouldnt of been a activation fee. I thought there was one too but the iPhone is the only phone they don't charge you for to activate it.

Is there anything in writing that I can confirm that before I call AT&T tomorrow?

Just looked at my first bill .....

Activation Fee 36.00
Federal Universal Service Charge 3.89
Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge .20

Total Credits, Adjustments & Other Charges 40.09

Never been an AT&T customer. Does that make a difference?

when all of the plans were first announced and all of the prices and charges were made public, there was an activation fee listed.

I expected to get charged that through iTunes when I activated. That didn't happen. And I never checked my bill for it. But after seeing all of these different size bills, I think I should check.

I just bought my iPhone yesterday.
I was told I was being charged an activation fee, but that it would be credited back to my account on the second or third bill.

You don't get charged a activation fee IF you were already a AT&T customer. Only those activating a new line or Porting a line in would have to pay a activation fee.

Thats the way it's always been with ALL Carriers unless someone runs a special to waive the activation fee.

wtf!

I bought an iPhone and got the 39.99 a month plan. My first bill came today and states the fallowing charges:

Total monthly service charges $139.98
total usage charges $ 15.60
total credits and other charges $ 43.18
government fees $ 18.58

Grand total of 217.34$

Now I can understand most of the charges, but what the hell is the 139.98 total monthly charges? My plan states that I have unlimited text and everything. I didn't go over my minutes or my texts. What is the 139 dollar charge for?
