i love the fact that the iPhone is quad band...but what good is it...if i am traveling to say India...and i cannot exchange the sim cards and have it work with a local carrier there.

currently i own a Hutch (company) sim card, and every year i go with my nokia i just switch my cingular sim with the hutch sim and i can make calls...

can i still do that with the iPhone?

I'm anxiously waiting for a reasonable solution to this, as well. Until the phone can use other SIM cards, we're stuck paying international roaming. Which for India is upwards of $2.49/minute... (!)

Just put your sim in your old unlocked phone and take it with you to india. The sim card will work in other phones. When you get to india just slip the sim card into your old phone. Sooner or later they'll have a better workaround than this.
