Please be more specific. What folder (All Photos, Camera Roll, Shared, etc.) are they in? Do they delete and then come back or is there no delete option? Do you have iCloud Drive or PhotoStream on? What firmware version are you running?

I have selected and tried to delete photos from the 'moments' folder but does not get deleted... And the delete button on the right hand side button is faded out.

Try going to Settings >iCloud>Photos >Toggle OFF iCloud Photo Sharing. Then see if you can delete the photos.

If a hard reset doesn't work, you'll need to update to 8.1 to fix this. That is unless you just want to disable sharing, which is not a solution. I think is iCloud Drive photosharing more problematic on 8.0.2. Is there any particular reason you haven't you upgraded to 8.1? There is a jailbreak available for it, so there really isn't any reason to avoid it.

This problem is actually on my friend's iphone 6 plus. There is no icloud setup to sync anything till now. I will do the upgradation to 8.1 and check if problem still persists.
