There's a new tweak called Unauthorized Lightning Cable enabler that was just released on parrotgeek.net/repo/ and it does just what it says, allows you to use cables not "authorized" by Apple.

I haven't tested it, but there it is.

I need that. I keep getting a message on my phone that tells me the charger may not operate correctly.

I've not tested this either, from the sounds of things it clears the annoying error message but doesn't work properly, as in the phone will cycle between charging and not charging etc. I hope this tweak gets refined, this is something I've wanted since upgrading to iOS 7.

Some people are reporting success with cables that previously didn't work.

I'll give it a go, if it breaks my phone and my house sets on fire it's your fault... ;)

You shouldn't be using unauthorized cables, then. :D

Eliminating the error message isn't the point of the tweak., Does the cable work nevertheless? A lot of people are reporting success despite still seeing the message.

I went to bed, with my iPhone plugged through a third party adaptor into a Phillips charger/speaker, woke up with NO battery, the tweak does NOTHING!

Okay, so that's your personal experience. Others have reported success, as I reported here.

It's hit and miss, as reported here.

I don't have this, but I am still able to use non-made Apple chargers. I haven't gotten a message in many months now.

Same here...Amazon's cable is the primary non-Apple one I use. I've never had an issue with it.

I had a guy on eBay send that sent me more of his non-Apple made chargers as I was the only one to report that they wouldn't last but a few weeks. I got the message that it wasn't compatible maybe 3-4 times. After that, no more. And this new shipment of a few chargers that he sent me, they last 4-5 weeks which is awesome! So awesome that I may stick with non-Apple made as they are cheaper, way cheaper. I still have an Apple made one in my car, but I only use it if my iPhone is out of charge, or I am on a car trip.

No. Not at all. Funny though. Nah he's sent me several packs of them, 5 at a time. All of them have worked, but these I'm using now are working for longer, 4-5 weeks long.

Does nothing for my 5s though I only tested a 3 dollar cable from China.

Does this $3 cable give you the message that it's not compatible?

That's unfortunate. A while ago I bought 5 cables on eBay for a dollar each, one listing. They work. I've only gotten the message a few times. No more now. The bad thing is they only lasted a few weeks, so I begged the seller for more. :)
