Hey, I'm new here, and this site seems to be great.

I have a few question:
Would it be worth it to buy an iPhone and unlock it for use elsewhere?
Will some functions be nulled?
Will you still be able to use that certain provider's internet service?
Is there still "AT&T" specific options present? Is there any way to remove that?
Can email use WiFi?
What is the best and easiest way to unlock the phone?

My provider is Rogers in Quebec.

I really hate coming in here and just asking questions, but I would really like to make a decision soon and can't really search, since it's quite late here...and need to sleep!

Thanks guys.

IMO, Yes! it is worth buying one (I'm in the UK)... every feature (except the fancy voicemail) works on an unlocked phone including the youtube app! Once unlocked, you can change the Edge settings to your providers Edge/GPRS settings... Email/Internet/Youtube all works through wi-fi.

Enjoy ;)

I'm overseas and just unlocked it with the $45 software ( there is free stuff) since I don't really know what I'm doing with the programing thing and it works great. The instructions had to be gleaned from a couple of websites so it took me about 30 minutes. With a good set of instructions it should only take a few minutes.

So is there are sure-fire way that will work?
What software is needed and what cannot be updated anymore after that?
