And it is not just for fun and challenge. There are additional benefits associated with the challenge$$. We all do really appreciate their efforts though, as it gives us who participate a better experience. I still have my 4S as an iPod/GoPhone. I am still amazed how much more smoothly I am able to negotiate tasks with it jailbroken!

I came across this website below when searching, but something doesn't add up, am I right to be suspicious or is this genuine? It claims to do untethered iOS 6.01 jailbreak, but not mentioned anywhere else. I did download the software but have done anything with it yet.

Today we’re pleased to release Rocky Racoon version 2.0b1. This release has been a large collaborative effort between Chronic-Dev Team and iPhone Dev Teams (Jailbreak Dream Team).

I'm new to all this and beginning to realise you have to be careful, I also just saw a youtube video claiming that a redsn0w 0.9.18b1 was out that could do an unthethered 6.01. Its obviously another scam.

As you say, wait till anything new is announced here and confirmed.

I just hope it's legit and not a tease/scam. My stubbornness to stay at 5.0.1 is giving me fits of buggy instability, but I'm clinging to my jb for dear life. It's probably Geohot anyway.

I've considered the possibility that it's geohot making a comeback, but I doubt that. I'm excited and hopeful. It's good to hear something.

^ The longest new-phone jailbreak took 16 weeks, not 8 months.
I cant wait till we go past 16 weeks. I've been saying that every year the JB takes longer and longer and I have been corrected but after 16 weeks I'll finally be right LOL:D Any way, I've always said it, once the Dev fall behind for more than it takes for a new idevice to come out then JB will be dead for me.

Umm. It has taken longer every year. Who here denies that? You won't be right if it takes longer than 16 weeks; you'll be right if it dies. :p
