Is this true? I haven't seen it posted on here on the homepage.

    http://www.iPhonestuffs4u.com/ios-5-untethered-jailbreak/

But, of course, I never updated to 5.0, and now only 5.0.2 is avail and there's no jailbreak for it. I seem to always be too late. Any advice? I just don't want to lose my themes. I'm too used to them to go back to stock.

At this point just wait it out and see. They are keeping stuff hush hush for now. As they are trying to avoid the cat and mouse game with Apple. Yes its true they have a untethered jailbreak for 5.0. My guess (and this is only a guess) is that once that 5.0.2 is released we may get to see it. From the tweets going around it sounds like 5.0.1 may be jailbreakable, but no one is saying for sure. I think they are doing this in hopes that Apple wont figure out what hack they are using so it will be available in 5.0.2 and not get patched up.

Take this all with a grain of salt as not much is being said besides what are in tweet. And that is just a lot of banter. Once its released I am sure you will be able to find a lot of info here. Also just follow the Dev Team blog http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ for more info as it becomes available.

Yeah waiting sux but that is the way it turns out at times. For most of us if we really want it untethered then we can downgrade to 4.x with save SHSH blobs. For people on ipad2 and i4S they are not as lucky but maybe soon.

    I have iPhone 4 currently on 4.3.3 JB'ed. So can I have my phone upgraded to iOS 5.0 & JB'ed unthetered ?

*heads to wiki for major difference between iOS 5.0 & 5.2*

The iOS 5 jailbreak is tethered for everyone except old bootrom 3GS owners. Install SemiTether from BigBoss and you'll find that it's a great work around.

It's not set in stone, but general consensus is to stay on ios 5.0 for an Untethered jailbreak when it comes...but as with most things, this can change.... predictions for Untethered jailbreak are around Christmas time...?

    Thanks for replying !

You mean I should install iOS 5.0 not 5.0.1 ? Damn, I simply wasted my time downloading 5.0.1.

You can't install ios5.0 now...I'm saying, if your on 5.0 stay there ...if your updating you will be installing the most current firmware. Myself I will stay on IOS5.0 until a a full Untethered jailbreak is available...

I get it :) Here are my questions : [@mods - please split my post if I am diverting away from topic :)]

Okay, my current iPhone firmware is 4.3.3. But I don't remember I have saved my SHSH blobs, because I don't think I have pressed "make my life easier". But here is my screenshot :

I think my SHSH blobs are saved.

    2. I downloaded this : iPhone3_1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.zip from this link : http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone4/041-3309.20111109.64rtg/iPhone3,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw

Is this correct ? I have iPhone 4 GSM version.

    3. Currently I am on 4.3.3 JB'ed. And I have factory unlocked device. Now to upgrade, shall I follow this guide ?

    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=15551

    Thank you in advance :D

Be aware you will be on a tethered jailbreak.... You will still be able to downgrade to 4.3.3 if you want.

No problems, I hardly ever run out of battery & switch off the device.

So above mentioned steps are correct ?

Just rename the extension to .ipsw.

Did you use Internet Explorer to download the file?

    ^Thank you !

I used IDM. But in Chrome the extension was fine, IPSW.

So I am all set ? I have taken back up. Are there any things I need to keep in mind while JBing or after ?
