About an hour after iOS 8.1 was released I did the update, I immediately noticed the setting app showed the # 1 as if I didn't update.

I checked and yes it was updated but still shows the # 1. I was hoping I was going to find here somebody with the same situation but I haven't read any. Does anybody know what I can do to get rid of the number one?

You can try a reset and see if that gets rid of the badge. There is no way to turn off badges unless you jailbreak.

Have you tried syncing with iTunes on your computer?

What do you exactly mean by that? I did it OTA and I have been doing it that way lately and it always worked. How do I sync to this point?

Something new just happened. My roommate and I share the same apple account, he was out of town and arrived tonight, from the time he got home I have been receiving calls made to his # and he has been receiving calls made to mine.

I already checked the right number in his and mine phone in iMessage and FaceTime but didn't solve the problem. I'm guessing it has to do with continuity but I didn't update to Yosemite with any of my macs. I'm getting very frustrated, what do I do? Thank you.

Do you have a computer with iTunes installed?

I crashed the app trying to quote your quote off my quote. There is one to say 10 times fast. Yes. I can send emoticons with my emoji keyboard.

Okay, connect your phone to the computer and press the sync button in iTunes. That will often clear the badge.
I did what you suggested, it took very long and it didn't remove the # 1 update previously mentioned. I discontented the phone from the iMac and connected again and try to sync again and got a message that doesn't look right for me to accept.

I think the message should give my name, this is what I got.

Press Apply and then sync again. Then reboot the phone. You can rename the phone afterwards if it changes it. Mine keeps changing mine to "iPhone" as well.
