I missed the boat on upgrading all my songs I purchased on iTunes prior to 2012 to DRM free. I see that iTunes no longer offers that step unless you purchase Match. My problem is, when I purchased Match, only 11% of my DRM songs (All of them purchased on iTunes, btw) were able to up-convert to DRM free. So, that didn't help me much.

I also tried to burn a CD and rip it back in iTunes to get an mp3 version, but I get the message "... could not be converted because protected files could not be converted to other formats."

Any other suggestions?
late 2011 MBP i5, OSX 10.8.3, iTunes 11.0.3

Thanks

When you rip the CDs, are you ripping them as an MP3 CD or an actual CD. The latter will strip the copy protection, but requires you limit the number of tracks per CD.

Are all of your songs matched? Have you tried backing it up, deleting it from iTunes and then downloading from iTunes Match?
