I will be going to London in a few weeks. my question is since i jailbroke my iPhone 5, can I call Verizon and ask them to turn on international calling on my phone so that I may make calls and send photos in text messages? Or since my phone is jail broke can I do this without calling them?

    Thread title edited.

Your phone was sold factory unlocked, so you have two options:

    1. You can call and enable international calls/data and roam on the GSM networks in the UK and pay Verizon after you return.
    2. You can buy a prepaid SIM in the UK. This method is cheaper, but it will be a different number.

Either way, use WiFi as much as possible. The hotel will probably have it.

Have fun! I've always wanted to go there. :)

Once you arrive here in the UK your best bet would be to use wifi as Europa states above. The roaming charges would be astronomical. Skype and FaceTime are probably the best things to use to save money.

If you're communicating with people from the UK you're probably best to get a pay-as-you-go SIM on either o2 or Three - you'll get a bit of data (for use in the UK) and minutes. The second I left the US I'd turn all my radio's off but leave wifi on :)
