On my old Android phone there was a mic button on the keyboard to allow me to speak my text or email response. Is there something similar on the iPhone 4?

Nope, sorry. You need at least a 4S, which is the successor to the 4.

Ok thanks. At least I know that an upgrade gets that great feature back for me.

You can install a free app called "Dragon Dictation" which will allow speech to text in certain instances.

I am aware of this app but as you mention, it has limits. You can't reply to texts or emails, only create them and then distribute.

If my limitation knowledge is wrong, please let me know.

Texting by typing is a real chore after dictating!
