I'm not sure if it's my need for immediate gratification or or my need to control something that's out of my control...but this waiting is killing me. It's worse than waiting three days for my iPhone to move from the "check-in" site to actually being out for delivery. Screen Shot 2012-12-25 at 6.28.04 PM.png I ordered it on Dec. 19th.

I would only like to see SOME change in status. I could have built 10 of these by now.
(okay, maybe not 10 of them)

    I'm mostly kidding here. Kinda/Sorta.

I know how you feel. I'm counting days till I can place my order for 27" configured to the max!.

Oh Nice. I'm jealous. Lol. Actually, I considered the 27" but 1. I'm spatially challenged and 2. I wouldn't have settled for anything less than a "maxed" out one, which I can't really afford at this time. The waiting is brutal though. My current iMac is running on borrowed time. I run a utility called SMC fan control when I'm using it to boost my fan speeds so it doesn't overheat and freeze on me.

Yes. Our two older iMacs (2010, 2009) seem so much slower than my MBA (2012). And I'm talking more than the difference between drive technologies. Your new machine will surely be a screamer. Enjoy.

Don't max out on RAM, it's a waste of money, get the standard and buy your own after.

Agreed. I never do that. I should have clarified 'maxed out'.

Thanks so much. I have a MBA as well. Unfortunately, it sits in its case most of the time since my desktop is my primary machine. I mostly only use that one for when I take vacations to dump my photos on till I get home.

I know exactly how you feel. I placed my order on December 31st for a BTO 27" iMac. At least you have firm dates! You should check the macrumors forums. There are plenty of ppl who have had to wait a month after placing their order! Mine just says ships January. Judging by others wait times I am not hopeful of getting a decent turn around time. I'm just assuming late jan/early feb before I see mine.

It's funny but just after I posted that I'm still waiting, there was a change in the status today. *Excited*

Ah but be glad you did! If you research things closely the user CANNOT upgrade the ram on the new 21.5" iMacs! They still allow it on the 27" but not the 21.5" That really stinks!
Just to take it a step further... Apple now glues the front glass on the new iMacs!

Yes, true enough. Adding to 27" is quite simple.

Congrats. I went to look at my cart and the ship date has been updated from 'January' to 'Available to ship: 3-4 weeks Delivers Febefore-Feb11'. Will be ordering "27 inch loaded-memory on Friday".... :)

How many times did you check status after you ordered yours?
Man this waiting for special order stinks!
