I've used as much data in one day as I normally use in a month. I was perplexed by this at first, but then I noticed that each speedtest I was doing was using about 10 MB of data. I've done about 30 LTE speedtests in the past 24 hours which equates to about 300 MB of data consumption. Apparently, it has to download a large file in order to run the download and upload tests.

Interesting! I use my iPad far more than my iPhone. I seem to never reach 2.5 GBa month on LTE. Then again I'm connected to wifi when possible. Should be interesting to see how much data I use on the phone on a full billing cycle.

I feel lucky, I don't have LTE and wont have it for about 2 years... so I don't have to worry about using all that data :)

It can't be "fixed", this is how speedtests are done. They have to send you data to measure how fast your download is going and you have to send them data to measure how fast your upload is.
