Curious if the water sensor would react to conformal coating or a drop of super glue applied with a tiny brush. If the sensor didn't react then it would be at least heavily water resistant in case of accidental damage. Not implying one should rip off Apple because i have tons of stock and such dishonesty could reality hurt my investment but i am just curious. So if there are any chemical engineers handy please do add your input.

I think Apple could tell that something was applied to the sensor and void your warranty based on that.

Wouldn't that be kind of difficult to actually replace and make sure it's positioned properly?
Difficult, but not impossible. After all, if you don't have the steadiest of hand I guess there's always a company out there to do it for you.
