Well, I guess when major companies decide that "Gold is good" (sorry, Gordon Gecko) and send film crews to your flagship store to try to figure out why people camp for one particular phone, you're doing something right. :D

It's fine to introduce a gold smartphone, but the timing is very much a coinkidink. Right, Samsung? Right, HTC?

Furthermore, if Samsung had held a keynote and announced a 64-bit CPU in their latest phone, Apple wouldn't have felt compelled to say a word. But, that's not how it went...

I knew that was only a matter of time. When I camped out we had several reporters come. Some told us what market they were from and others just said "internet radio" or some made up sounding channel. I wonder if opposing companies send out people to see what the consumer really wants in a device?

Apple didn't make the first gold-colored phone, but for two competitors to have gold-colored phones in the works immediately after the introduction of the highly sought-after gold iPhone is the sincerest form of flattery.
