So what do you think about the new ZUNE 2.0, if you haven't heard:

"qouted info from engadget"

Hard drive Zunes
It's called the Zune 80 and, shockingly enough, it has 80GB of storage.
Uses the new Zune Pad -- four way touch-sensitive d-pad (with up, down, left, and right buttons).
It will sell for $250 (with "premium" headphones).
Available only in black (to start).
Screen size has increased to 3.2-inches (from 3-inches). As far as we know the resolution is still QVGA.
Dimensions are 61.1 x 108.2 x 12.9mm (2.4 x 4.25 x 0.5-inches), some 1/3rd smaller than the classic Zune.
The classic Zune will now be known as the Zune 30 -- it's not going anywhere. More on that in a sec.

New flash Zunes
Zune 8 and Zune 4 are the names for the 8 and 4GB flash based models.
Also uses the Zune Pad.
These will sell for $200 and $150 respectively.
Both will be available in pink, green, black, and red.
It will feature a 1.8-inch screen (compare to the nano's 2-inch screen).
Dimensions are 41.4 x 91.5 x 8.5mm (1.6 x 3.6 x 0.33-inches) -- compare to the new iPod nano, at 69.8 x 52.3 x 6.5mm (2.75 x 2.0 x 0.26-inches).

Everything else
New Zunes ship in November, date not yet announced.
All Zunes (including the Zune 30) will have a new, redesigned interface and feature parity. In other words, early Zune 30 adopters will have all the same software features as new Zune 80, 8, and 4 users.
Additional native video codecs for h.264 and MPEG-4 -- users no longer need transcode those file types to WMV.
Zune can FINALLY sync video from your Media Center PC! Jeez, took you friggin long enough, guys!
WiFi sync to host computer! Includes moving over music, movies, photos, podcasts, etc.
Podcast support! (Sorry, no over the air downloads -- sync only.) Podcasts can also be shared via WiFi.
The 3x3 song sharing DRM has had its three day restriction removed, but users can still only play files three times.
There is still NO wireless music store.
The Zune software is all new and rewritten, and is supposed to actually be more than a rebadge of WMP10 now. Friggin finally.
The Zune music store is going DRM-free, with over 1m MP3 tracks being made available for download. Other details (like which labels, whether there is a DRM-free upgrade path is for users who've bought music with DRM, price differences, etc.) are not yet revealed.

If you have an iPhone, why would you want a Zune? Well, besides being one of 2 people in the United States who actually own a Zune... and having those bragging rights. :D

I bought an iPhone july 6, I bought a 160GB iPod Classic the middle of September. I don't need anything else, it's all Apple all the time.

I never really considered the Zune because I had a Mini and a Nano before the Zune was even announced and now I have an iPhone. They do seem like a novel idea by Microsoft but it definitely didn't catch on as well as they had hoped. Also, the pricing point difference from the iPod seemed to be the main thing it had going for it, but now the 80GB Zune and the 80GB iPod Classics are the same price, so why go Zune?

Sorry to mini-thread jack here, but how are you liking the iPod Classic? I'm about to order a 160GB one myself and as of yet I haven't seen too many user reviews of it. I would naturally assume that it's in the same working order as other Apple products but you never know. No issues with poor sound quaility or anything?

Well I bought my 160GB Classic with the $100 iPhone credit so my 160GB was the same price as the 80GB so I had to get it! I absolutely love this iPod! The sound is excellent. I use this iPod in my car since I spend 8 hours a day in the car for my job. I play it through the AUX jack on my sony CD deck in the car. The sound is as I said excellent, rich sounds crisp sound and good bass. Another reason why I got this iPod rather than use my iPhone was because with the iPod, I can control it without looking at it while driving.

I had one minor issue with syncing all my music the very first time. It stopped a few minutes into the sync because it said it couldn't find about five or six songs, so I stopped it. That caused iTunes to crash and all the settings I had just set on the iPod were reset. No such problems since then and I simply deleted those songs from iTunes that it said it couldn't find.

Just to make things easy, I use my MacBook Pro for my iPhone and an XP laptop for my Classic. Music is shared between the two with an external drive.

The back of the classic is still that shiney stainless steel that shows all scratches so I am using the case that I bought for my 30GB iPod Photo. The screen on the classic appears to be scratch resistant finally but I still keep it in the case.

Hope this helps in your decision.

Tharmsen,
Even if the OP didn't have an iPhone, why would he want a Zune? The Zune sure was one of Microsoft's biggest failures (along with, Vista). Anyway, isn't the Zune now a local Dollar stores or Overstock.com? Sorry Bill, Steve is the Overlord of the MP3 businesss and that isn't changing anytime soon...M

Dude thank you so much! I'm ordering my 160gb iPod Classic as I write this. I too use mine mainly in the car because it attaches directly to my head unit and I can control the iPod through the touchscreen so having THIS much memory is going to be amazing. I've still got my $100 credit and I'm selling me nano on ebay so this is going to be a pretty cheap purchase for a sickly awesome device.

Enjoy it! There is a new software update for the Classic that was released Friday night. It fixes some bugs and makes other features more useable such as coverflow. This is the second update released for the classic in one month. There are also 3 games just released for the classic, Ms. Pacman, Tetris and one other game. I bought the first two!
