I have a contact whose address I inputted simply as “United States of America.” On his contact card, there’s a pin on a map displayed next to that. When I tap that map, it displays his name, and below that, it says “1,448 mi.” (See screenshots below.)

    1,448 miles to what?

If I specified his address as simply ‘United Sates of America,” then what is this mysterious distance?

I asked him if he thought this figure was accurate, and we figured out we are in fact actually 969 miles away from each other (and 1,197 miles actual driving distance).

If you don't designate a specific location in the US, it drops the pin in the geographic center of the Lower 48, which is near the Nebraska/Kansas border.

Maybe it just picked a central US spot like Kansas for the pinpoint for the United States? ImageUploadedByiCafe Forums1473979130.863693.jpg
