I'm going to stay on the family plan that I'm on and just add the $30 data plan. Then I'm going to cancel the message starter package that I have now that gives me 200 text messages and I'm looking at a net of $25.

I'm staying on my 500 minute family plan (hubby hardly ever uses his phone, I've got over 2K rollover minutes) and debating about the data plan. I will probably get the $20 plan and see if I go over the text message limit. If I do, I'll bump up to the 1500.

I pay 49.99 for:

1050 minutes (got juiced up by a buddy)
Unlimited night and weekends
300 text messages

I will cancel my text plan ($9.99) and add on the $20 iPlan for existing customers. It's a great deal.

Total price will be $69.99 for the iPhone.

Um, thats not how it works. The data plan is $20, on top of voice plans that are (at the least) $40. So the cheapest is $60, but that's unlimited data and 450 minutes and 200 SMS.

Ok, you can pick any plan that ATT offers and stick $20 to that to get unlimited data and 200 SMS messages. You can also stick $30 on for unlimited data and 1500 SMS messages. Or, you can pick $40 and stick on unlimited data and unlimited SMS messages. There are three plans that are made "for the iPhone" but any will work with the iPhone. Those plans, avaliable at Apple.com/iPhone, include the unlimited data with 200 SMS messages. If you want 1500 messsaages, tack on $10 to each. If you want unlimited SMS, tack on $20 to each plan, and that will be your total.

I was thinking thing. I send about 1000-1500 a month now, but with the iPhone texting is going to be so much more fun and easy and enjoyable. So I am definitely going to go for the unlimited text, and if it turns out I am not using as many then I can just downsize at a later time.
