The iPods shared the limelight with the iPhone 4S event last year. I am hedging two bets...one is that the iPod touch 5th generation will show up here, the other is that this event will only be the iPhone, and the October event will host the iPod update. One way or another, I'll be correct. :D

I think it'll probably be showcased in October, with a release the same month just in time for Christmas shoppers. I think they're going to release a 4" one too, alongside a 7" iPad. Boom!

I was right! 5th generation iPod touch

Thinner, lighter, faster

5mp camera (seems somewhere between the iPhone 4 and the 4S camera)

A5 (same as iPhone 4S)

Same display as the new iPhone 5

Built in hole for wrist strap

AirPlay mirroring like the 4S & 5

Siri

iPod touch in colors

I'm probably buying the new iPod especially if I've still got my 7% discount, also I do like the whole red thing. One question I have though after reading the eiC article about the light sensor. Is it 6.1mm at the camera bump or body in general? Where'd I put my calipers.

Guess I have to start using calipers for my reviews.

Is there a special trick to getting the thing into landscape mode? I've confirmed that it's not locked from the double click, swipe task bar to the left. Yet can't get landscape mode in search or iTunes working.

Well, impressed with the virtually instantaneous call back using the contact Apple support service.

On the other hand, quite surprised that these two native apps don't support landscape which is annoying since i really prefer the landscape keyboard.

How does one modify the waiting before the screen goes to sleep?

And wow, when is the eiC app going to be fixed for 4" screens?

edit:never mind, I kept looking for something display related.
