Well sadly the deal for the iPhone v1 I really really wanted fell through and now I'm hanging with $280 dollars that was going towards the iPhone I was going to buy:(

So I'm thinking about jumping aboard the ship of the iPhone 3G
-Which btw I never jumped off:p

The only thing I cannot justify is the extra $10:sick:
-Now even though I have a job and everything that $10 dollars can really add up after years of pay ya kno. Cause I have a lot of other stuff that I want and need to prepare for and with "low tier" jobs as a teen I have to make responsible decisions you kinda get where I'm going;)

Reason being is that Elizabethtown currently does not have 3G coverage. "YET".
-I called Att about 30min ago and the nice Att rep "Britney" told me that E-town is "supposed" to be getting 3G in october. . .But idk the way she said it...um it seemed like she didn't really believer her self:p

But ultimately what do you guys think would be best informed decision for me?
When I get a plan I wanted to get:
-Least amount of min(keep cost down, plus I don't talk much)
-Data(of course)
-Unlimited Text(I don't talk much, over the phone atleast:p)

Thanks!
-Any and all post greatly appreciated, please vote

I would hang on and keep looking for another V1, personally. But you coulda probably guessed that answer coming from me.

Seriously, though, they're still selling... why not just find another?

I voted for V1 as well. And btw, phone iPhone 3G, unlimited text and data and the lowest minutes is around $100 + and idk if you want to pay that much, and for something you wont have for a while.

If there isn't any 3G available in your area then I would suggest going with the v1. It really is a bit nonsensical to pay the extra $10 for no reason.

I just found something in my wallet that could help, but Im just not sure how much it could?
-Alright when I got the job at McDonalds they gave me this card with brochure that told me I am entitled to discounts at select store. I then came to this one about Att's discounts I could receive, heres what the paper says. . .

At&t/Cingular
50% off select wireless phones and
17% off monthly service
1-866-868-8092
www.cingular.com/benefits/mcdonalds
Code: *****

Apple Computer
Up to 17% off Apple products
1-800-my-Apple
www.apple.com/eppstore/mcd

Could this actually benefit me?
-The plan I want is the least amount of voice/min, unlimited text, and data

I would take the paper into a AT&T store and see what they say. If you call them you will end up getting 20 different answers.

I know that the iPhone is not covered in the 50% off wireless phones. My Company has a discount as well. The 17% off service is on valid on the 3g. Not the V1 iPhone. AT&T view the V1 and 3G as two totally separate items.

iPhreak is right. My discount through my company works exactly the same way.

So, with your McDonald's discount, you can get 17% off your monthly plan if you get a 3G iPhone (with no discount if you get a first generation iPhone and the respective plan). 17% off of $69.99 = $58.09 monthly before taxes on the 3G iPhone, whereas you'd pay $59.99 before taxes per month for the cheapest first generation iPhone plan.

Technically, it would be slightly cheaper on a monthly basis for you to get the 3G iPhone with your corporate discount. If you go for the 8GB version, you'd even have money left over with the $199 price for new customers...

(And the Apple discount won't work on the 3G iPhone either, unfortunately...)

So the "17%" will only knock off about $2 dollars?
-I mean theirs nothing wrong with that cause Im saving money, but I went to the att site and saw the plans and. . .

450min 69.99- it better be including data:p
unlimited text 20
Total= 89.99
-before taxes atleast Im not really sure I'd be worth it?. . .Would it?

Btw, can someone explain how to do percents?
-Cause so far Ive only been taught how to do percents on "whole" numbers, and by this other method that it isn't that easy to remember:oops:

Can someone please explain if it the "17%" discount would be worth it?
89.99 * .17 (17%) = 15.30 off
89.99 - 15.30 = 74.69

of course that is before the taxes and additional fees. but you can figure paying about 75-80 a month with the 17% discount.

39.99 (least minutes)+30 (data)+20 (text) multiplied by .17= 74.69

as opposed to:
39.99 (least minutes)+20 (data) +20 (text)= 79.99 (if discount is eligible, then 66.49)

but idk if the original is eligible for a discount b/c you activate it at home? and beisdes, i don't think you could get discounts on the original? idk. but if there is no discount, go for the 3g.

regardless, it seems tough. you don't have a 3g area, so it might not be worth it. then again, they did tell you they are adding 3g to your place, so who knows. to me its all about that discount. if you get the discount on the original, then get it.
