Will EDGE speeds increase now?

So do you think that we can expect EDGE speeds to increase as the number of v1 iPhones on the network drops? Will the performance of 3G drop as the number of iPhones on the 3G network increases?

I remember before Apple dropped the price of the iPhone and everyone was paying $500 or $600 for an iPhone, EDGE speeds were pretty decent. Then when every teen with a paper route could afford an iPhone all of a sudden EDGE speeds dropped. So it occurs to me that the opposite might occur as people start to leave the EDGE network for the 3G network.

Could there be a time where the 3G speeds drop and EDGE speeds go up so the difference between the speeds isn't significant enough to justify the additional $15 a month?

Maybe, but iPhone is not the only phone on AT&T's network that uses EDGE. Also, a good number of iPhone 3G owners are new to AT&T; they never had an impact on EDGE.

Plus a lot of 2G iPhones are making their way to new owners.
