Will I be able to get 3G or 4G speeds using iPhone 5 with T-mobile as my carrier?

Hi iPhone5 experts,
will it be possible for me to get 3G or 4G speeds using the iPhone5 if my carrier is T-Mobile? I realize I can get 3G or 4G speeds if I used Wi-Fi, but I am particularly interested in getting those speeds when there is no hot spot available. This will go a long way for me in helping me decide whether or not i buy the Samsung Hercules/Nexus Prime or the iPhone 5.

Thank you in advance.

Two things have to happen in order for those speeds to be achievable on the T-Mobile Network.
1) Apple has to make an iPhone compatible with that cellular spectrum.
2) T-Mobile has to be able to handle the influx of users if #1 happens.

BUT, if AT&T and T-Mobile merge, then it might actually happen sooner than later. It is unknown if all that is needed for access on T-Mobile's network is a firmware update or actual new hardware, and it's unknown if that new hardware will be built into the new iPhone that is coming this fall.

tmobile will cease to exist on march of 2012, the iPhone5 on these networks will carry both antennas and once the acquisition is done a software update will allow it to work on the new AT&T

You for sure won't get 4g in tmobile lol :) Tmobile has 4g like I have an iPhone 6 (it's my iPhone 4 but I call it a ip6 cause it's white).

Most likely, no. We can't say for sure until the device is released, but you'll probably just get 2G speeds. Since it's not an offical carrier, all of the current iPhones lack the hardware required to access T-Mobile's 3G and 4G network.

Well, there is no way you can connect your iPhone 5 to a wireless without a hotspot, and the other network services which do offer 4 G are currently very expensive to use.

Speculation or confirmation and from what sources? Just curious since we read rumors all day long.

Again:

"My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night."

Impeccable source. Thank you, Simone. :D

One interesting rumor that surfaced either today or yesterday is that China is getting a 4G LTE iPhone with the new release. The rumor came from the China Telcom itself, so it's an interesting claim.
