I have no doubt that if the iPhone 5s went up for pre-order on Friday, it would sell out in hours, at least the number of devices made available for pre-order. That's not available, so the focus is on the iPhone 5c. Is it me, or does everyone think there will be huge sales tonight to the point where some, if not all of the iPhone 5c pre-orders sell out? I'm not seeing it. Sell outs are of course dependent upon how many they have to sell. Theoretically, the lack of a sell out could be due to huge inventory. Im not so sure.

Don't get me wrong, I think it'll sell and sell well. $79 for a new iPhone (thanks Walmart), is $79. I just don't think that the iPhone 5c customer is the same as the iPhone 5s (or iPhone 5, iPhone 4S) customer. These aren't early adopters, must have the latest technology types. These are more, I'd like to get a new iPhone and under $100 seems like a good price. Oh and they have colors too!

So what do you think? Will there be huge demand for amounts to the first new sub-$100 iPhone?

Well, I would never get the 5C but my son (13) who has been wanting an iPhone for 3 years now, this would be perfect for him. I paid more than $79 for the cheapy Android phone he is currently using.
Hopefully Walmart keeps the $79 price, I'd like to make this a Christmas gift for him.

I don't think you'll see the iPhone 5c price go up. In fact, by the time the holidays roll around, maybe it'll for further down. iPhones were never discounted, but that's changed. It wouldn't be surprising to see it go free by the holidays.

Set my alarm for 3 a.m. ET, woke up at 7:15 a.m. ET. Just got the phone for my mother with a delivery date of 9/20. Doesn't seem like there was much of a rush (or just a huge inventory).

I just check the Apple store app and it shows the they still have the 32 gigs for sale. I think Apple made a mistake by not allowing pre-order on the 5s instead of the 5c. The 5s I believe would have sold out in record time or close.

The Chinese market should be difficult to sell out. Starts at $USD733. Don't think that qualifies as cheap esecially in a society where the per capita GDP is about 1/6th the US.

I thought the iPhone5 was 699.99 without a contract?
I'm pretty sure it was $649 for a contract-free 16 GB iPhone 5 up until the 5S/5C were announced. The 5 was the top of the line phone at the time. The 5C isn't - it's $100 less than the 5S.
