If you have not already read or heard. You can jailbreak 3.0.1 with Redsn0w 0.8. You just need to have redsn0w verify the 3.0 IPSW instead of the 3.0.1.

I just noticed this on the Cydia under the "Upgrading to 3.0.1? Read This" section.

So I think i'm going to wait and see what Saurik is going to put out.

Thanks! I'm waiting, it's not terribly important for me to upgrade and have to redo all my modifications for a small update.

It's one i can hold off on for now. Especially if you have two phones that need to be updated re-jailbroken and restoring my themes and such.

Thanks, I'm going to try PkgBackup next time then. I never bothered using AppBackup (?) because I heard it usually didn't work.

This is an important security update IMO, so I couldn't wait it out. I restored, jb w/ rednsn0w and unlocked with ultrasn0w last night.

PkgBackup puts its backup information as a contact on your iPhone. Just open PkgBackup. run the backup, then sync/backup your iPhone to store the contacts safely!

Cool. Installing it right now. Does it save the settings as well?

With all of the attention the new update has gotten, I doubt there will be any "attacks." Doesn't make sense.

That and the fact that 3.1 is due out next month and I think I'll skip 3.01 altogether.

But thanks to all who have or soon will have updated. Makes the chances of any kind of attack even less! ;)

I used PkgBackup the other day after I updated to 3.0.1. When I tried to restore the packages it got to about 40% and quit. I think it was in the process of restoring RockApp. Anyways, it couldn't fully recover after the error. Cydia wouldn't open, the PkgBackup icon disappeared even after multiple restarts, resprings, and hard resets. So I had to restore and JB again and manually restore all packages. Then I tried to install PkgBackup again and it went fine but the icon never appeard on the springboard. so i removed the package and said forget it. Its too bad bacuse it would be a very useful app if I could get it to work.

FWIW, I accidentally updated (rather than restored) to 3.0.1. Re-jailbroke with redsn0w using the 3.0 ispw, reinstalled all my cydia packages with PkgBackup. All in all it took about 30 minutes, and so far everything is running smooth. Hopefully I won't have any problems, from updating and not using a fresh restore, this isn't recommended, but it has worked pretty well for me, and saved me lots of time not having to re-input all my settings.

Hi. I have the newest firmware of 3.0.1. Any ideas of when we will be able to use cydia theme keyboards?

I've used it several times with no problems at all.
