I ended up going with AppleCare+. After the refund of the unused portion of my AppleCare+ from my 7 +, it cost 140. I chose to go with carrier device protection for my wife and daughters iPhones.

I can’t speak for Verizon, but on AT&T I have always activated the phone with the sim that came with it, then swapped.

I don’t know...I think an overlay could work very nicely. This is a first attempt, I think the font for the percentage should be a bit thicker, but I think it looks pretty clean.

Jacksonville, FL the Apple store in St. John’s town center currently has AT&T 64gb both colors. T-MO 256gb space gray and Verizon 256gb both colors in stock. No idea how many of each. As a matter of fact there are lots of iPhone X’s available in the Apple Stores in Florida. Check those apps.

They could have made it overlay the battery image. Or give you the option to choose number rather than an image of a battery.
