My mp4's are h264 I think. Apple's are m4v extenders which (I think) denote the copy protection... it's just an extender. I might be wrong but h264 is an mpeg 4 codec.

It does pretty good commercial detection and I think people have written scripts for it. It's a great program. The new version being beta tested now will convert your files overnight into ipod format I think.

Hey Mike, I downloaded the demo and tried it and I can't use it. Compared to MCE on my system it's sluggish. Watching TV on the screen while using the computer is much different from MCE. Just sizing a window stops the video for a second or two. Audio / Video was also a little out of sync...

It doesn't stop you from recording, just from burning. That's easily handled with the Sima video enhancer put in line. BTW, the protection I'm talking about comes across embedded in the signal so the PVR software has nothting to do with it... kinda. I agree though BTV looks pretty darn sweet.

I looked into BTV a couple of times but I still like MCE better. Besides, I'd have to get another IR Blaster as it doesn't work easily the MCE blaster. In my view Media Center 2005 (and Vista I suppose don't know) is the best PVR app out there. THAT DAMN DVR-MS format! No option to record...

They have both composite and component cables. I got the component by mistake and played a iTunes movie on my HD70 projector to a 92" screen and it looked great. I think the issue is the quality of compression. The movie trailers that I had downloaded from iTunes looked horrible, pixleated...

Maybe ... or maybe not. Try to download or update iTunes at work and see what happens. Many IT departments will block it, it depends on where you work. I work for AT&T and it's blocked. I had to download it at home and install it via a USB key at work to sync my work contacts and appointments...

That is very irritating. If I want to go into email to get info from a previously download email it connect anyway. There should be a way to turn that off and make all email server connections optionally manual. P.S. Can you get phone calls while downloading email?

How would you get notified of a new email without having auto-check enabled? If you do have it enabled you can get an audible alert. If you don't have it enabled... it won't check anyway. ? I use vibrate for new text messages, better than a light since I can feel it when it happens. I...
