Everyone is trying to figure what the update was all about. So far my battery has barely shown loss of power and its 3:43 est east coast time. I think battery has been the improved area. anyone else notice this!

I never noticed a problem with my battery to begin with, but I don't know how a update can improve battery life.

Maybe it is just a visual improvement to how the battery is actually performing? I was wondering that too. The only thing I can think of would be that it is reported more accurately or something.

Um... seems the same to me. I got 5:30 usage (almost all internet/email @ 30% screen brightness), 17 hours standby when the 20% indicator hit. That's right about what I average.

My wifi connectivity without a doubt is much improved. It wouldn't auto connect to my LinkSys router, everytime I woke up the phone I'd have to manually set it. Didn't have to do it once last night.

Look folks, as a software engineer for 12 years - straight up, it's a bug update... it's just a build release, not even a minor release. It doesn't have to have a single aesthetic change. No new features. Nothing that the naked eye could discern. That said, this phone is buggy as all get out. Nearly every single app crashes (I've even had notes and the stock page crash on me) - a plethora of bug fixes, no matter how minor, is much welcomed. There could be dozens or even hundreds of issues addressed.

It's a good thing. Be happy about it.

hhhhhhhhmmmmmm @ title of thread......... I have to take this thread off topic because I'm curious to know what was the point of the "Dummies" and what makes us "Dummies?" about an update?

Isn't it plausible that if certain bugs were quashed it could make certain applications run more efficiently, and thus improve battery life as a secondary effect? My guess is that any software improvement that would prevent the phone from exercising the core transmit/receive, or just use the hardware more efficiently, would in theory help the battery life.

Case in point: it looks to me that my email is functioning better now; better in the sense that it doesn't waste a lot of time getting stuck updating as it had been. I'm hopeful that this might improve the battery life as well.

I honestly think the update did things to improve the iPhone behind the scenes. This wa just to tighten up the O.S. to make things run better for future enhancements. People are just imagining things on this update.

Only noticeable thing to me is that my battery life is 25 to 30% less than it was before.

I've tried Reset, Hard Reset and full Restore without backup.

At 1.0.1 I had up to 7hrs of use and plenty of standby time

At 1.0.2 am lucky to get 5.5 to 6hrs of use and abysmall standby performance.

Both measured with WiFi and BT off

...oh and Safari crashes slightly more frequently.
